Dear community,

I checked that we can work with landed costs WITHOUT automated inventory valuation and/or accounting app enable enabled. Official documentation statets at https://www.odoo.com/documentation/14.0/applications/inventory_and_mrp/inventory/management/reporting/integrating_landed_costs.html

Landed costs can only be applied to products with a FIFO or AVCO costing method and an automated inventory valuation (which requires the accounting application to be installed).

Why Odoo states automated inventory is mandatory if Odoo already updates product costs with AVCO/FIFO costing method? A customer could ask for working with Landed costs without recording journal entries related to them.

In spain we don't used to to book journal entries for landed costs. We just deal with landed cost to update product cost with additional expenses like customs, freight, etc.

If you don't activate an automatic costing method how will odoo account for those landed costs? There won't be anywhere to reflect them. That is why it is mandatory to have one of those costing methods active.

Also if you worry for not having accounting module you can get it on CE here:

Or you can just buy a subscription if you are on EE.
