How you design your product code?

Question

Hi,

I'm in the dilemma designing product code for furniture products. I don't want to simply design 1 and then have to change everything all over again.

So i hope to gather some info before i started 1, hopefully someone can give me idea on standard product code design.

You might want to consider includes code from product category and sub-category and then running number for product code for each sub-category.
Product Category (01)
Product Sub-Category 1 (001)
Product Code (0100101)
Product Sub-Category 1 (002)
Product Code (0100201)
