Everything is in the title.
I don't find how to use my contacts in the mailing list. the two seem to be separated what is redundant and difficult to maintain. I think I didn't understand something.

Hi,
Inside the mailing list, there is no option to fetch the contacts, but you can get the contacts from the mailings menu.

if you do it like this, and the contact unsubscribes, how is that handled? Do you have to remember to not mail them the next time????

this apps is designed to email information to a list of contacts; for example you may use it to send a newletters to some customers.
first step create a first list of contacts,
second step send the letter (an email emplate just created by you; it may include an invitation to share the newsletter with Twitter/FB.... in order to increase your contacts list)
third analyse the answers if any.
fourt add some new users to the initial list and send the next newsletter......................
