This is sort of a use-case question how to do something 'the odoo way'.

Sometimes a sales person gives a contact a 'commercial sample', of a stock product that has a certain value.

At the one hand you want to update the inventory that one item of that product is gone.

On the other hand you somehow want to keep track of how many products have been handed out, and their value, probably also in accounting.

What would be a good way to do this in Odoo ? Just create a sale order ?

Hi Jaco, yes that's what i do, then you retain all product traceability and the cost associated with samples. I even went a step further and created a new SO dropdown header field with the sample order reason for further reporting. Because of the business I work in (medical devices) I created a separate fictitious warehouse called 'samples' so i could easily segregate the sample stock from retail inventory. hopefully that answers your question :)

Hi, I have the same question. I created another warehouse called Samples as discussed, but I would like to avoid the sales of these items.

How to make sure of that ?

Thanks!
