Hello everyone,

we are currently in the process of implementing Odoo in our company. One major issue that we are facing though is that we have not found a satisfactory solution to model vendor bonuses in the product margin calculation.

Let me describe what I mean with vendor bonuses: In our industry it is the norm, that there is a list price for products which is used for purchase. This list price is usually much higher than the actual cost incurred for a product. This list price will then be reduced by discounts which are listed on the bill, early payment discounts (also listed on the bill) and end of year bonuses (not listed on the bill).

Depending on how much revenue you achieve with a vendor you might receive different levels of bonuses. E.g.

At 1.000.000 = 1% bonus = 10.000,-
At 2.000.000 = 2% bonus = 40.000,-

These bonuses not only differ by vendor but also by product (category) for this vendor. E.g. A vendor might sell fridges and washing machines. There might be entirely different levels/percentages for these product (categories).

Now obviously it is not guaranteed that we will receive these bonuses, because it is not clear how much revenue we will achieve with this vendor, but given that we have achieved a decent size, for most vendors we will achieve the highest bonus level. So modelling the different levels is not so important.

What is more important is including the expected bonus in our margin calculation as the margin is the main decision criteria for our purchase and sales department. Not including the expected bonus would not give an accurate view of the profitability of our products.

Including early payment and on bill discounts seems to be relatively easily achievable, but we have not found a solution for what is effectively a discount on a product, but which we only receive at the end of the year.

We were looking into using negative landed costs to reduce the purchase price of our goods, but we are not sure if this is the optimal solution. We would be grateful if anyone has an input for this.
