Export your records with the (External Id) into xlsx, or csv format and make your change and upload them again,
External id is required if you don't use it, it will not work

In Odoo v14 or above to import any records from external file in Odoo you can go to list of records -> Favourite -> import records and then click on upload files button to upload the external file of records and import it.
