In Odoo 18, we can now import Images using an import template from the import wizard.

When building the import sheet, you should add a column for the image field. In this example I will be importing products and their images.

When creating the file, make sure the name of the images are unique.

The names of the image on the file should also include the file type, for instance in this case instead of just the name of the image which is “Gallardo” it should be “Gallardo.jpg”

Once the file is ready. Go to the model where you would like to do the import and select the gear icon -> Import records.

Select Upload Data File and select the import file.

Map the columns with the corresponding fields on the database and select the Upload your files button on the left to add the images.

This opens up a dialog box where we can select multiple files and import them.

Note: All images that will go with all the products should be selected together during the upload process. If you select like 3 of the 4 images first, press the Upload your files button again and import the last image. Odoo will only keep the latest upload, in this example it will remove the 3 images and will just keep the 1 image uploaded at the end.

Once the images are added Odoo shows the number of files selected next to the Upload your files button.

You can then Test and run the import.

If done properly all the products will be created with their images

By default, the maximum size per batch of images is 10Mb and there will be a 1 second delay after each batch.

This information can be changed when you are on the import screen in debug mode.
