I have modules one inherits sales.order and another module inherits from res.partner and sales.order as well, I need to know how can i create reports for these modules and I want to use OpenOffice only. Please guide briefly on xml and rml files.

You can have report example from core modules. There is a module for generating the report named base_report_designer & base_report_creator. This link will help you the total guidelines.
