Odoo auto assigns the value of 1 for customer_rank field for contacts created via sales module. But the field remains as 0 if the contact was created in some other app like contacts app. We have seaveral such contacts to whom we have sent quotations but no invoices have been generated nor have the sales orders been confirmed. We do not see them as Customers in odd right now. How can we modify the customer_rank fied in odoo for such contacts so that they are seen as our customers from the sales module?

I can't believe that odoo has no way to mark contacts as customers once the contact has been created!!! There used to be a "Is a customer" flag in the ui earlier which has been removed!!! And going by the answers to this post till now, it looks like the only way is to keep exporting such contacts and then changing the rank in excel etc and then re-importing them!!! What were they thinking when the removed the option from the UI???!!!

You can select Customer for those you want to change the rank using Contact list view. Then click on Action/Export by selecting option "I want to update data (import-compatible export)", add fields Customer Rank and Supplier rank. Export the data , change value of Customer Rank and supplier rank and then import contact from favourites.

export customer/vendor external id + customer rank/vendor rank.

and change to value you want and import.
