Hello-

I have odoo set up to manage my business. The business makes product (bars of soap) and sells them through the POS and website. I am wondering the best way to configure odoo for increasing inventory levels once a batch is complete.

I have played around with the manufacturing add-on, but am unsure of how to proceed. I set up the products that we make, created bill of materials, and started the processes (including the 4 week lead time it takes to create the batch and let it sit). The thing I can’t figure out is this.. I purchase products like oil. I record them in the purchases section of odoo to manage my expenses. The bottle I puchase has 200oz (as an example) but my recipe only uses 50oz at a time. Sometimes I purchase the same oil but from different vendors with different ounces in the container. So it doesn’t make sense to say the recipe uses .1 of a unit, because that could change each time i purchase oil. On the other hand, if I configure the purchases to say I purchased 200oz of this oil, I then have to convert my paid price into a cost per ounce? I’m just not quite sure how to figure that one out.

The other half that I keep contemplating is that if I just say each batch uses 1 unit of the needed ingredients, is that going to be a problem since it’ll be consuming more than the physical batch does?

My solution was that I was just going to manually add the inventory in when the batch is completed and available. This then rose another question though: do I complete an inventory update for that sku every time counting the total number of bars available to be sold? Or is there a way to say that I received 10 more bars of this sku?

Sorry for the long question, I just can’t quite figure out the easiest way to proceed.

The easiest would be to set the minimum stock level in Purchase. Odoo would then create a draft Request for Quotation when the stock level falls below the defined value.
