Another process is changing the database, and I want changes to automatically be visible in the form.

I've read about the auto_refresh field, but I (and many other people) can not get that to work. Also I've seen references in the source that this field seems to be deprecated.

I know this can put a strain on the database, but for this application that is not a problem.

For the sake of knowledge, this is the reply we got on github about auto_refresh from a dev:

Nobody is working on this. This was only ever supported in the old GTK client and its usefulness/use cases were limited enough that its implementation in the new web client was seen as unnecessary (it only worked in the form view, and would just unconditionally reload the form view from scratch every x seconds where x is the value of the auto_refresh field). There might be a better/more useful version of it if we ever implement data notification (though that would be post-9).

I hope they will reconsider this option in the future because on tree view will be very useful...

Good find and good post Federico! I honestly think this feature could be really handy in tree views for refreshing data there..

Indeed. I'll have a look on it, again. :)

Was auto_refresh ever added? We are on ODOO 14 at the moment and would love to see this on inventory operations
