How can I persist the codebase of Odoo in a directory if I'm using docker?

How can I persist the codebase of Odoo in a directory if I'm using docker?

I'm using docker to run odoo on my localhost, but I need to see the files of the project, for example, the modified views of the website created through the "website module".

Is the data only saved in the database or it is elsewhere?

webiste page/view change by website editor directly stored in the database, it does not store in filesystem.
