Hi, first of all thanks for any help, its much appreciated. I'm a developer of applications but i unfortunately know very little about Odoo and i was asked to help a friend of mine who owns a small manufacturing company and is using Odoo to manage fabrication and orders and also using it as an accounting / invoicing software. This company was a spin off of a large company and he inherited the current Odoo set up which is the following:

• The installation is hosted (managed hosted) at a Gold Partner.
• Current version is 9
• He has some custom modules but the only really importante one is the invoicing which follows Portuguese Law.

From what i can understand he doesn't have control over the installation, they do, and he wants to free himself from this current set up and build a self hosted installation or a managed one here at Odoo.com. The main problem is that he doesn't know how to access the data (products, orders, invoices, etc.) for migration purposes, and they are not willing to help of course, they want to maintain his business and offered a upgrade option (to version 16) at a cost of 10K, which will leave him tied up to the gold partner.

My question is, has anyone been in the same situation and found a way to migrate?

His so tied up that he cannot manage the day to day operation of his company, anything that he need he pays at the hour as "development", current version is old and many features are not available, he's on the brink of failure because the software is working against them. If you can please point me out in the right direction, ill do the research and development, i just need to know if its feasible to migrate. Thanks
