Hello!

We have some customers with multiple delivery addresses.

As I understand odoo always automatically uses the first added delivery address of the customer and adds it to the quotation / sales order.

To avoid mistakes I would prefer that in case there are multiple delivery addresses for one customer, odoo should ask the user to choose one of the delivery addresses manually.
Is there a standard option for this or can anyone give me an idea how a workaround could look like with odoo studio?

We use odoo 17 enterprise.

Thanks in advance

Thomas

Hello Selvamg!

You describe how new addresses are added to a customer. We already know how to do this.

My question is how can I adapt the sales order form so it asks the user when multiple delivery addresses are available for this customer, which one should be used.

At least it would be helpful if odoo doesn't preselect a delivery address but leaves the delivery address empty. Then I could change this field to be obligatory so the user needs to fill in an address before the sales order can be saved.

The easiest way to do this is to manually create a non-blocking Customer warning on each Customer with more than one Delivery address, as soon as the second address is created.

When someone creates a Sales Order for a Customer with multiple Delivery Addresses, they would see a popup to remind them to check which Address to use.

An Audit Team would also need to periodically review the Customer master list and add warnings where Users forgot to add them.

This is the only out of the box solution I can think of, and I realize it is really just shifting the responsibility of "remember to ask them which address" to "remember to add the warning when a second delivery address is created" and "remember to audit the Customer Master".

In Sales --> Configuration --> Settings, turn on:

It would be possible, with development, to determine the "rules" that Odoo needs to use to automatically fill in a Delivery Address (when there is ONE, or when there is no delivery address).

The benefit of this development would depend on the cost of mistaken deliveries (if they are happening - since we don't recommend solving problems that have not happened yet).  Customers can be sent Quotations and receive a confirmation of their Order - so they have two chances to confirm the address and it isn't hard to train people to ask / verify when taking the order.  Customers can also realize they need to confirm the Delivery Address when they order when they receive their first delivery to the wrong address.

Thank you very much for your detailed answer.
Is there a way to stop odoo from pre-filling the delivery-address field?

This combined with an non-blocking customer warning would be a workable solution for us.

regards
Thomas

Changing how and when (or if) Odoo fills in the Delivery Address would require the creation of a module to override the standard behavior. The non blocking popup Warning feature is out of the box. You may find the Warning works just fine.

In Odoo, managing multiple shipping destinations for a single sales order requires customization or utilizing specific modules. While standard Odoo doesn't inherently support multiple delivery addresses within a single sales order, several solutions can achieve this, including the use of specialized modules, creating multiple delivery orders for a single sales order, or modifying the way addresses are handled in customer records.

Solutions for Multiple Shipping Addresses:

  1. Specialized Modules:
    • Some Odoo modules, such as "Multiple Delivery Addresses for Sale Order" and "Sales Order: Multi delivery", Odoo Apps Store and configure it according to your needs.
    • Create sales order:
When creating a sales order, ensure you select the appropriate delivery address for each order line if using a module or create separate delivery orders for each address if you're manually splitting deliveries.
    • Verify addresses:
Double-check that the correct delivery addresses are associated with each order line or delivery order to ensure that orders are shipped to the correct locations.

Considerations:

  • Complexity: The chosen approach will depend on the complexity of your needs and the level of integration you require with your Odoo system.
  • Customization: Some customizations might be necessary to tailor the solution to your specific requirements.
  • Module cost: If you opt for a module, be aware of any associated costs.

By carefully considering these solutions and implementation steps, you can effectively manage multiple shipping destinations in Odoo, ensuring that your orders are shipped to the correct locations.

Hello Jean-Paul!

Thank you very much for your answer.

Maybe I gave to less information for this issue.

We have a lot of customers with one invoice address but with different delivery addresses, but for each order there is only one delivery address.
You may thought that we need to handle different delivery addresses within the same order but this is not the case.

Meanwhile we realized a customization for this requirement.
