What is Datev:

Datev is a Germany based software editor that created what is now one of the most commonly used Accounting tools used by Tax auditors in Germany.

Many German Odoo customers therefore require a possibility to share their accounting entries with Datev software or at least export the relative data into a format that Datev can read.


The Datev Export feature:

Since Odoo Version 11, in the German localization, we have a button that triggers the generation of a “Datev Export” file in order to respond to the above-mentioned requirement.

You can find this feature as follows:

English: Accounting App (v12) > Reporting > General Ledger/ Trial balance

Deutsch: Finanzen (v12) > Berichtswesen > Umsätze nach Konten und Perioden/ Vorläufige Bilanz.

Attention: to the date of this entry, the Datev feature is still not yet sufficiently capable of generating Customer Reference Code (Personenkonten Nummernkreise) which are compliant with the Standard DATEV Chart of Accounts.

Until this is corrected in the stable version, there are several workarounds including the editing of the export file itself (VLOOKUP function to add the correct references) or a technical intervention.
