I find the accounting reporting to be very limited. We need to be able to report by Analytical account. We need that data to then feed into divisional type reports & also the need for divisional budgets. None of this seems to be able to happen within Odoo.  

Is this correct? 

What BI tool would be best suited to provide this functionality?

You should check the app store. There are several reporting enhancements available. And then you should definitely throw an eye on the MIS Builder: https://www.odoo.com/apps/modules/browse?search=MIS Builder

Hi Marea,
I also tried for same thing. And I customised the financial report parser for getting report with analytical account filtration.

I added one more M2o(account.analytic.account) field  In wizard, And passed to parser, then filtered against account.move.line.


Here note that, when you fetch "account.analytic.account " , you should fetch its child relation also, Otherwise the calculations will be wrong.
