I want to change a lot of Internal reference codes of my Product Variants.

But i am getting this error: (Also on runbot with demo data)

To reproduce:

Go to Inventory/Product Variants

Select all, action/export, check' i want to update data'

Keep defaults.

Edit a few fields like the internal reference of a few products in the xlsx file

Upload the file again via Favorites/ Import records /Upload the xslx and then Test.

What am I doing wrong ?

You need to remove the attribute name with colon symbol so the "Legs: Custom,Color: White" will be "Custom,White" and you will be able to do the import.

Also you can remove fields you don't need to change from template and keep only the fields you need to change with External ID.

So this is a bug ? I checked the box that i want to use it for updating ?

It's not a bug, You need to remove attribute name with colon symbol. So "Legs: Custom,Color: White" Should be Custom,White

Since you want to update the internal reference so you can remove the product_template_variant_value_ids from excel or during upload click on x beside variant values

I understand ... but that sounds like a workaround to me.

It really feels like a bug.

If i export a file in a format for re-importing (By checking that box, so the id's get added). And without changing ANYTHING, i cannot re-import it without removing the prefix before the ':' , then that for me is not the intended behavior.
