We have equipment that has many different parts inside that can be used in other equipment. How do i enter the child items individually and still tie it to the parent items in my stock?

You could use a BOM & MO to associate individual parts (components) to an equipment (product)
But how do I take the stock in ?
By updating stock in hand or using a receipt operation
Am assuming that the parts and equipment is tracked using a serial number and are interchanged in the equipment.
1. Create individual parts and equipment as storable products
2. For individual parts update the 'on hand' quantity or create a "Receipt" operation to be able to update the serial nos
3. For the equipment create a BOM with individual parts as components
4. Create an MO for the equipment and provide the serial number and identify the individual parts in that equipment.
If ever you wish to use an individual part in a different equipment you can use 'unbuild' order.
The practicality of this approach largely depends on your business case and the number of equipment's and individual parts being tracked
Thanks for the advice. Will try it out.
