Is there a standard template for importing employee data that has all the fields listed. So sorry if this is a basic question, we are new to Odoo and just figuring things out.

Odoo provides basic template in xlsx format to import Employees.
All you need to do is go to Employees > Favourites (Upper right corner) > Import Records, on that page you will see a link saying "Import Template for Employees". Click on that link and Odoo will provide you xls file.
Just fill it out and upload your file to the same screen.
Note: Skip/Remove External Id column in case you are creating new employees. External Id Column is useful when you are updating employees details that are present in the system already.Enjoying the discussion? Don't just read, join in!
