We have a PO from a customer for some engineering services and the PO includes various topics: training, research, deveopment. We have created a project so we can track our time against that PO. Now we would like to create sub projects based on the various aforementioned topics to we can keep track of the time we spend on each of those topics separately. Of course, each of those topics then has tasks. How would one do that in Odoo?

Dev9 has to support cjid projects... I was on this forum once via my mobile and lost it because my v9 ( http://www.deviceranking.fr/phone/12390/vivo-v9 ) broke. Now I found it and glad to be here!
This is a capability that was added to Odoo at version 10.
If you need it for v9, you could look at backporting from v10.
You need to install hr_timesheet for this field to be visible.
