I’m using Odoo cloud with one single app, which is considered free without of charges. This works fine, but as soon as I create a copy of my database for test purpose, the copy runs on trial mode.
Is this an error or a desired behavior?

It is desired behavior.
As you mention it is for test purposes and 15 days is accepted as a reasonable time period.
