We are a small construction company and we do projects that last from a couple of hours (repairs) to several days. We use both in-house employees as well as subcontractors. We sell both fixed price projects as well as Time and Materials projects. 
I am struggling with the workflow from Lead > Sales > Field Work Order > Production > Invoicing.

Does anyone have examples of workflows that work for this type of business?

Hi,

A simple and effective construction workflow in Odoo is:

Lead → Quotation/Sales Order → Job Cost Sheet / Project → Job Orders (Tasks) → Execution → Invoicing

  • Create a Sales Order (fixed price or time & material)

  • Generate a Project and Job Cost Sheet to plan materials, labour, and overheads

  • Create Job Orders/Tasks for field work execution

  • Track time (employees) and costs (materials, subcontractors) via timesheets, purchase orders, and vendor bills

  • Invoice based on milestones, fixed price, or actual time & materials

This approach works well for both small repair jobs and multi-day projects, while keeping sales, execution, and costing fully connected.
