During several courses I ran into the following (lacking) functionality in ODOO. Having worked with several CRM and Sales solutions I was able to capture the relationship of companies (vendors and customers) and their subs (branches, or child organizations).
I did discover this functionality in the create company (Settings | Users & Companies | Companies), but these are used to define 'My' organization. Hench when setup you can switch between your companies.
Can this requirement be configured in standard ODOO?
Odoo is the world's easiest all-in-one management software.
It includes hundreds of business apps:
- CRM
- e-Commerce
- Accounting
- Inventory
- PoS
- Project
- MRP

The companies you've found, as you've stated, are 'your companies', aka the companies using Odoo.
Contacts on the other hand can have multiple types (and can be structured in a parent/child setup). One Contact however can not be linked to multiple other Contacts by default. But, since your question isn't to clear (to me), could you maybe provide some example of what you would actually like to see/accomplish with these linkes between Vendors and Customers in Odoo?
Ofcourse @Chrisoph Farnleiter.
Example:
Given the company VDL Group (the parent company). VDL as a company has 100+ subsidiaries (the child companies). Adding this organization as a complete structure, with the relationship, has the advantage that you can understand the total organization.
Added value could be that you can assign on company as the administrative company, others as the manufacturing company.
A second one is the added value from the perspective of the Marketing function. Mining leads.
Hope this makes my case more clear.
Hi Ray,
The link did lead me to the solution on configuring the relation between parent and child companies. Next step to investigate how to use this information in a clear overview, maybe a report or even better a visual representation. Wonder if I could use those results in setting up sales strategies or campaigns.
Keep you all posted!
