Can you have non-sellable locations in Odoo that would not count towards quantity available? For instance, I want to have a return location for items that come back into the warehouse that are going to be inspected and maybe put on the back on the shelf or possibly returned to the vendor. But I would not want those to be sold or show in the quantity available. But these would be items that we have in the warehouse and I would want to show them in inventory valuation and as quantity on hand for a physical count. I have tried playing with making a scrap location or return location but those do not seem to do what I was looking for.
Odoo is the world's easiest all-in-one management software.
It includes hundreds of business apps:
- CRM
- e-Commerce
- Accounting
- Inventory
- PoS
- Project management
- MRP

UPDATE:
A better solution is now recommended: create location(s) beneath the Input location (turn on two or three step receiving).
It will work the same way - showing stock as ON HAND in these locations but not AVAILABLE or RESERVABLE (Check Availability will not count these quantities).
- Input [= Receiving Dock]
- Input / Quarantine
- Input / Returns
- Input / Bulk Put away
- Input / PO Issue
- Input / Hazardous
- Input / Pre-allocated to Deliveries

Yes.
Create a location "above" the Location Stock (main stock location) of the warehouse:
Quantities in this location are excluded from the "on hand" and "reservation" logic.
Quantities in this location will show on the Inventory Report and the Inventory Valuation Report:
You can also clear the "ON HAND" filter (fourth screenshot) to see hidden quantity.
Perfect! Thanks Ray!
Thank you for this Ray! How will affect this to the inventory valuation. Will it be counted?
"Quantities in this location will show on the Inventory Report and the Inventory Valuation Report:" <-- this was meant to convey there is no effect on the Inventory Valuation - all product quantities will be counted.
@Ray Carnes(ray) - Any tricks to get products here besides a manual transfer? You can't select these types of locations from the PO Receipts. And you can't create push rules from a receipt to move items here. So a receipt to stock would have to be done, and then a manual move that I can figure out.
A better solution is to create locations beneath "Input" which will show stock on hand but not available, not reservable.
That would be great, but unfortunately not what I am seeing. This is v15.
I did a receipt from a PO for 10 and received 1 to Input/QC-Hold and 9 to Input and then did the second step of the transfer to move to 9 to Stock. Then manually Transferred 2 to a Quality Control Bin (still in the warehouse, but not under Stock).
But it seems Odoo is seeing all 10 as available from a Sales Order as able to sell.
However, the Pick does only see 7 as being able to pick. But the problem is that would be after the Customer has been told 10 were available. Is there a trick to make a location not available or not reservable? I have tried creating Push Rules that would at least reserve it, however Push Rule don't fire when the product is received from a PO Receipt.
