For companies that provide service (IT/Telecom/Copiers/Repair,etc), what is the best way to open a "Service/Work" Order and follow it through to invoicing? I.E. Client calls "My computer is broken, send someone out", an order is created with an unknown amount of time, work, and billing. Then the information is completed and an invoice is sent.
I have tested with Sales>Helpdesk and Projects>Issues, but both of these methods seem to require creating the initial document (Helpdesk Request or Issue), then creating a task, then creating a project and a contract before it can be invoiced.
Also, I do not see on the task, where to set it as "Invoiceable", unless I back into it from Project>Invoice Tasks.
I think this must be a common question as I even saw an app called "Service Desk", but I tried installing it and it did not seem to work. The built in options of "Helpdesk Request" or "Project Issue" seem like what I am looking for, but I wish that I could go straight from a "Request" or "Issue" to an invoice, without requiring a project and a contract to apply it to.
