Hi everyone! I’m currently learning Odoo as a beginner and practicing in a demo environment. I recently explored the CRM and Sales modules and I’d like to ask:

How do you usually practice or improve your understanding of Odoo workflows as a beginner? Any tips or recommended modules to focus on first?

Hi Lovelyn and welcome to the Odoo community!

  1. My first advice is to practice while learning, It seems you do that already : open a demo database and try to replicate what you learn in the tutorials 
  2. Second is to focus on the main flows only, some tutorials in https://www.odoo.com/en_EN/slides can be very specific and will confuse you. Here is what I recommand you learn for each app: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1kzquWrJjWscWwvHLnV0sY6cJmeUMENARJW2ycktcRBk/edit?usp=sharing
  3. Focus on a few modules at a time, 2 or 3 is good.
  4. like for every learning skill, every week quicly repeat what you've seen previously, because its very dense its the only way to really familiarise with the subjects.

Phase 1 - Core Business Flow (Start here):
Sales - Create quotations, confirm orders
Inventory - Receive goods, manage stock
Purchase - Create POs, receive vendor bills
Accounting - Customer invoicing and vendor bills

Phase 2 - Customer-Facing:
CRM - Leads and opportunities
eCommerce or Point of Sale (depending on your business)

Practical Tips:
Use the Odoo 19 Demo database at odoo.com - it has sample data already loaded.
Follow a complete business flow end-to-end: create a customer, make a quotation, confirm it, create an invoice, register payment. This teaches you how all the modules connect.
The Quickstart tag on this forum has many scenario-based guides that follow real business flows.

The most important thing is to follow a complete flow from start to finish, not just individual features. Good luck on your learning journey!

for me running Odoo locally in a docker container made me learn it so much faster. Plus, you cannot really mess it up.
