When a lead is created from an email alias linked to an external contact form, the lead only contains the :
1. The subject of the email as the name
2. The sender as the email address
The content of the message is unfortunately displayed in the chatter and the information coming from the contact form have to copy-pasted in the right fields. Such operation is boring when lots a leads are created through this channel...
So, here is an automated way to parse the content of the emails sent and to fill the right fields by using the free Zapier services.
1. Create an account on Zapier.
2. Create a mailbox on the Email Parser app.
3. Send an email to this mailbox.
4. Create a Zap.
5. Configure the "When this happens..." side as follow :
- Choose App : Email Parser by Zapier
- Choose Trigger Event : New Email
- Choose Account : the mailbox previously created
6. Configure the "Do this..." side as follow :
- Choose App : Odoo CRM
- Choose Action Event : Create Lead
- Choose Account : fill your Odoo credentials
- Customize Lead : set the Email Subject as the name of the lead
7. Skip the test and save your Zap.
8. Configure the Email Parser by selecting the dynamic fields of the contact form. For example, if the the name of the contact always appears in front of the "Name:" title, set the tag {name} at the right place.
9. Go back in your Zap and use your custom fields in the lead creation.
10. Test your setup by sending an email to your mailbox. If it works, link your contact form with this mailbox.
