Hi all,

as we are quite new users of Odoo, we are looking especially for best practices to optimize our processes. We have the following issue:


  • we generate many new leads via cold calling

  • we want to sort those leads based on their potential for further activities (e.g. mailing lists, event invitations, sales contact). This way, we hope to have an up-to-date database with a clean overview for the users

  • we must give contacts always the option to opt-out if they are uninterested (EU GDPR)


We thought about the following process:

  1. We create different campaigns for different follow-up activities (mailings, event invitations sales contact etc.) 

  2. Generate lead (e.g. cold calling by sales agents) and assign campaign

  3. Campaigns are handled via Marketing Automation: each campaign will have to option to opt-out

  4. Leads without an assigned campaign will be deleted according to GDPR rules 


Do you have any recommendations how to improve this process? How do you handle many leads and the GDPR rules with Odoo?


Furthermore, i have the question if it is possible to convert a lead to a mailing contact (like with 'convert lead to opportunity'?

This is not a question, but a nice write-down of a common acquisition process.

There is no need to convert leads to mass mailing contacts, you can select and filter leads directly for your mass mailings. If you still want to do this, that's a rather simple customization, if you have sound customization knowledge.
