When we implemented  Odoo a few years ago we only really used it for sales and inventory. We recently decided to implement the accounting side with purchases and expenses. When we tried generating P&L and BS, we notice the P&L for example, only has sales entries (which makes sense) but BS was a surprise because we noticed that those sales (which are all credit) didn't show as AR in the Assets for example. We realized there must be a misconfiguration issue and we hired someone to help out.

But Ive noticed that some accounts, which were created years ago when we moved to Odoo, such as the client accounts, have this box ticked (Allow Reconciliation), but accounts we created recently when starting to implement cost centers, don't have the option ticked.  Whatever effect this has, its only in expenses though, so it would result in the missing AR data from the BS. Im not an accountant so could someone explain to me what effect this would have in the Financial Reports (P&L and BS)?

Thanks

Normally, you only set Balance Sheet accounts to allow Reconciliation. It won't cause A/R data to go missing!
