Our company has two locations to ship out of and I would like to be able to assign a specific location on the shipping methods set up so that the rate calculates correctly. How can this be accomplished?

Thank you Paresh. Do you happen to know if there is a way to define the default Warehouse location based on the fiscal location ie one for Canada and one for United States? We are using the shipping connectors on our eCommerce platform and on them there is only a company selection to compute the shipping costs automatically. I am unsure how to get this to pull the correct address per the Country they are set up for.

Hi Julie:

You can associate an address with the Warehouse in the Warehouse settings form. This is available out of the box.

You could then customize the Sales Order form to default the Warehouse field based on the address in the Sales Order. In your example, if you create 2 warehouses - one for the US and another for Canada, you could default the warehouse field based on the country in the address..

Hi Julie:

There is no connection between the Shipping Method and the Warehouse/Location. Both can be independently selected at the time of creating the Sales Order.

To control the Warehouse/Location from which the Order is fulfilled, you could activate the Multi-Warehouses feature in the Inventory module and then select the warehouse from which the item(s) are to be shipped in the Other Info tab in the Sales Order.

To do this:

  1. Go to Inventory > Configuration > Settings and select Multi-Warehouses in the Warehouse section.

  2. Then add a new warehouse by going to Inventory > Configuration > Warehouses

  3. You will now see a new field called Warehouse in the Delivery section of the Other Info tab in the Sales Order form. This field provides the ability to select the warehouse from which the order will be fulfilled.
