The version comparison page has a red X for Accounting in the Community version.

That means that it is _not_ included...

Is that correct?

I want to install the community Odoo version locally but I also want to work with the Accounting module.

Is the comparison page wrong?

Is it the community version only missing certain sub-modules?

A General Ledger would be under every Invoice, so how can it be omitted from any version?

thanks

Thanks for the replies...

If I can make Invoices, then I need to enter Payments and print reports of what is still owing...

(A/R List, A/R Ageing Report, A/R Statements)

The Invoices will affect certain General Ledger accounts, so I should be able print a Trial Balance...

That should be available in the Community version, correct?

The Accounting functions available in the Community vs Enterprise editions are not very well documented.

Since Odoo switched from being fully open source and created the Enterprise (paid) version, this has been both controversial and subject to change.

There was a time when you could install the Accounting app in the Community Edition (but without all the features), then they tried to hide it, now we have the Invoicing app plus the user access group to enable more functionality.

Using third-party add-ons can give you a workable solution.

The Community version has the Invoicing app, which is the basic version of Accounting.  You will need to authorize users to the User Access Group Technical / Show Full Accounting Features to unlock all the available functionality:

Obviously it doesn't have everything that is in Enterprise, but you can post invoices and other journals.  There are OCA add-ons for reporting etc.

EDIT: There are also free add-ons in the Odoo app store: V17 Accounting Reports

You're right, the accounting module is only available in Enterprise version.

You can understand it. There is a full development team dedicated to accounting in general and for every localization. And every accounting module of all the countries needs to comply with the local regulations.

Anyway, accounting is only for enterprise edition.

If you want, you can install only the accounting module in an enterprise edition, 1 app is free. Or only use invoicing module.
