Hi,
To define two different units of measure (UoM) for a product, follow these steps:
- Enable multiple units of measure
- Go to Settings > Inventory > Products section then activate the option Units of measure "purchase and sell products in different units of measure".
- Configure the units of measure
- Add the unit Bag and set 1 Bag = 25 kg.
- Make sure that Bag and Kg belong to the same Unit of Measure Category (e.g., Weight).
- Define the units in the product settings
- In the product form, set:
- Sales Unit of Measure: Kg (since the price is per kilogram).
- Purchase Unit of Measure: Bag (since you purchase in bags).
Stock and Sales Management
- By default, the stock will be managed in Kg, but purchases will be made in Bags, which Odoo will automatically convert to Kg.
- If you want to manage your stock in Bags, you need to set the primary unit of measure to Bag, meaning sales will also be in Bags.
- In this case, every time you create a sales order, you will need to manually change the unit of measure to Kg in the order lines. Odoo will automatically adjust the selling price accordingly.
Best Approach
The most optimal solution is to purchase in Bags, store in Kg (knowing that 1 Bag = 25 Kg), and sell in Kg. This ensures better unit conversion management and avoids manual adjustments when selling.
Hope this helps!
