Is it possible to add a batch of attendees, or have an invite-only registration option?
We already have a registration/POS platform that our organization umbrella makes us use, but we'd love to use Odoo for the event portion.

Yes, it is possible to add a batch of attendees or have an invite-only registration option with Odoo. You will need to create a custom registration form and then add the attendees via a CSV file. You can also configure the form to be invite-only by setting up a password for access.
Yes, you can import attendees from xls.
On the event click "Attendees" smart button and you will have the option 'import records' in Favorites menu right below the search bar.
If you going to have the registered users already in Odoo, then you might have to export the registered users (external ID) and then import
