Hi,

Working on ODOO online v19.

When I manually create new bank or cash transactions the balance is updated correct.  Then, when I create a statement from these transactions, the balance still shows correct in the bank matching screen.  When I go back to the dashboard, the balance will not include my last statement.  Also in the bank matching screen it will be wrong then.

All items in the statement are reconciled and posted.

Currently, I can only fix this by resetting  all items to draft in the bank matching screen and then go to the journal entries screen and confirm these items again.

After doing that, the balance is ok.

Any idea's what can be wrong?

Thanks,

Stefan

Hi  Alessio,

Thanks you for the reply.  I tried and checked all your suggestions, but stil can't find the solution.  Just tried to create a statement of 1 line in my test database without reconciling.  Same issue.  The starting and ending balance in the statement is correct but ,also after reconciling, the current balance in the dashboard does not seem to see the last statement.

Also, when I then try to create an extra statement, it does not seem to see the previous one  because it gives the error " The starting balance doesn't match the ending balance of the previous statement, or an earlier statement is missing.".

On Monday, when I have the problem in my life database, I'll create a support ticket like you suggested.

Thanks again and kind regards,

Stefan

Hi Stefan this usually comes down to how the statement itself is finalized in v19.

What’s likely happening

  • You’re reconciling transactions before (or without) a properly defined statement (Start/End balance, date). In Odoo 19 the dashboard’s “Last statement” only follows the most recent validated statement (by date), not just reconciled lines. You should first create/complete the statement, then reconcile.

Do this once to “reset” the flow (no Python needed)

  1. Go to Accounting → (click your bank on the dashboard) → Bank Matching.
  2. Hover the first unmatched recent line and click “Statement” (the grey separator shows the range that will become the statement). In the popup, verify Starting Balance and Ending Balance and give a reference. Save.
  3. Reconcile all lines in that statement (Match/Validate). The statement becomes complete/posted. The dashboard will pick it up as the latest statement.

If the dashboard still ignores it, check these four things

  • Statement date: it must be later than any previous posted statement for that journal; otherwise the dashboard still shows the older one. (The “last statement” is the one with the latest date.)
  • Ending balance entered: if it’s blank or inconsistent, correct it on the statement page (v19 lets you edit Start/End balances).
  • Statement state: ensure it’s saved/posted (not left in draft/in progress). Reconciling lines alone is not always enough if the statement itself wasn’t finalized.
  • Right journal: confirm the statement is linked to the same bank/cash journal tile you’re watching on the dashboard.

When you can’t change a prior statement

  • Create a tiny adjustment statement (one line) with the correct Start/End so the dashboard aligns again; reconcile it to a balance adjustment account. This is an accepted way to fix a historical mismatch.

Important habits for v19

  • Don’t post manual bank/cash journal entries first and add them to a statement later. In v19 the recommended flow is: create/assign the statement → reconcile. That keeps the dashboard and “last statement” perfectly in sync.

If after the checks the issue persists in Odoo Online, capture the statement reference, journal, and dates and open a support ticket they can inspect the statement/balance compute on your SaaS database.
