Hello, 

In product details, Procurement tab, i have "Buy" route and "Make To Order".

I neeed to be able to create sales orders even when there is no stock.

Make to order works fine there, but we are not creating products, but buing them.

Company works like this. 

Customer makes quotation - We check prices with suppliers and update quotation - If customer accepts, it is converted to Sales order - Proforma inovice is made - Customer pays money - Proforma is transfered to regular invoice and payment is paired with that invoice - Goods is bought and shipped - Purchase quotation is made - If confirmed by manager, then is converted to order and invoice. Then paired with payment. (Goods is usually from more different supliers)

I am newbie with odoo so maybe you would have also some tips for some functions

Make To Order  (MTO) -  is not related to the production (may be related). When a product is handled MTO, it means we will handle each order (e.g. sale order) individually and procure what is necessary, separately for every order. If I understand you well MTO is right for you.

When a product is handled by Buy (Make To Stock - MTS), we wait until there are sufficient orders and then we order everything at once taking into account a minimum stock (or a stock forecast) into account.

@Simon, are you a trading company? We are also operating a similar type of business model to what you have described and are based in Kowloon in Hong Kong. We are building some modules to tailor specifically to this type of business model, perhaps we can help each other out. Thank you for message! Yes, we are trading company and we are also based in Kowloon :-)

But operational part is in Shenzhen, same as me.

 

It is nice to see, that there is so great comunity around Odoo. We are just about to start using it.

Last month i spent with making everything ready for this (customization, data migration, reports, users rights setting, testing).

Though ICT systems  is my field, i did’t have any experiences with odoo. But so far i am impressed with its functionality and potentiality.

 

It would be great to share some expreriences.

 

Our plan is that since next week system will be tested by users and since 1.1. it be in full operation mode.

Plans for future development is to go online, implement barcode scaning, add shipping calculation feature and many others.
