Kirton School of Music

Alexander Kirton is the master music teacher and founder of Kirton School of Music. 

From the age of 5, Alex began playing by ear along with experienced organists and began taking classical piano lessons. He began teaching piano lessons as teenager. Music has always been his passion and superpower. He has earned a Associate Degree in Piano Performance from the State University of New York-Nassau, a Bachelor's Degree in Music and a Master's in Music Education from Hofstra University.  He holds certifications from Orff and Kodaly.

Alexander has spent 25 years teaching music in public schools in New York and Texas.  He has taught tens of thousands of students grades K-12.   He is a recipient of the NYS PTA Honorary Life Member Award.  He is a proud member of the Music Teachers National Association and the Plano Music Teachers Assocation. He has served in many capacities including mentor new teachers, developing music curriculum, incorporate technology and advocating for social emotionally well-being.  He has extensive expertise in teaching students with special needs and students that are gifted.

Alexander is a consummate performer. His mastery of the piano and different music genre is noteworthy.  He has performed in front of public leaders, concert halls, recorded on albums for recording artists, accompanied districts choirs and has served as music directors for theater productions and various churches.  He is a versatile and gifted musican with gret skill in note reading and playing ear.  He has vast experience is Classical, Jazz, Gospel, R&B, Pop and other musical genres.

Alexander created the Kirton School of Music to be a place where students of all ages and abilities can learn, be inspired and be empowered to develop their music potential.
