According to the latest update to the Official State Gazette (BOE) announced on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, Veri*Factu will no longer be mandatory for companies from January 2026 and for self-employed workers from July 2026, but rather from January and July 2027, respectively.
What does this mean?
For the time being, as it is a Royal Decree Law, it is not 100% certain until it is approved by the Congress of Deputies. However, everything points to this being the case, thus extending the entry into force of the mandatory use of Veri*Factu until January 1, 2027, for companies and July 1, 2027, for self-employed workers.
This measure aims to allow more time for preparation and adaptation, both for the invoicing software that must be Veri*Factu compliant and for the companies using the computerized invoicing systems, which had to comply with the Veri*Factu measure in less than a month.
What does this imply for business owners and freelancers?
The Veri*Factu regulation, which stems from the Anti-Fraud Law, is moving forward, so if you use a computerized invoicing system, it must be Veri*Factu compliant. However, it will no longer be mandatory to start in 2026.
Despite this, if you have already adapted and have a system that is Veri*Factu compliant, you can start using it now, so that you are used to working this way when the time comes.
For the time being, both the requirements to be met and the penalties for non-compliance remain the same, so it is recommended that you take the time necessary to be prepared when the measure becomes mandatory.
Is Odoo ready?
Since July 2025, Odoo has had the Veri*Factu modules available since version 17 and the statements of responsibility for each version. With the developments already carried out, Odoo is a Veri*Factu-compliant system.
To use it, simply access the applications and search for Veri*Factu. Once installed, all you have to do is access the general settings to activate it, upload the stamp and currency certificate, and you're ready to use Veri*Factu.
Furthermore, if you only need a system to comply with Veri*Factu regulations, using a single application in Odoo is free, so you can adapt to the regulations at no cost to your company.
