Before Odoo: From Many to One
Zerynth’s mission is to empower companies to make production processes efficient and sustainable by connecting industrial machines to the digital age. Using IoT, AI and Edge Computing technologies, the Zerynth Platform is a unique solution that can connect and integrate manufacturing plants of any age (legacy and modern) in a simple, scalable and secure way. Before adopting Odoo, the digital company relied on a mix of several applications: Redmine for project management software, Google Sheets for inventory and hourly reporting, Google Docs for purchasing and contracts, Teamsystem and the external accountant for accounting. Due to its rapid growth, Zerynth had to manage a significant amount of data, making it increasingly difficult to track everything across four different tools. They were looking for an integrated solution to:
1) structure the company with defined processes while maintaining the operational agility;
2) carry out the process quickly, without having to invest huge amounts of time and resources in the setup and go-live of an ERP system;
3) make this transition cost-effectively, having to divert investment in the direction of team expansion and business development.
Just the RIGHT one…
In 2021, after evaluating Odoo through various partners, the company decided to adopt Odoo.sh. The implementation was very fast, as Zerynth had already structured the company thanks to a Program Manager capable of following the internal implementation process, aligning the different teams towards the transition from the previous tools to Odoo. The implementation was done in only 2 steps.
The first one was to map all the main company processes and identify the main requirements to keep the processes lean and solid (as-is).
The second step was to collaborate with the Odoo partner in identifying the best implementation strategy, defining together the Odoo modules to be released, and the customizations needed for the transition (to-be).
However, one of the constraints the company had to overcome was to implement a connector between Redmine and Odoo in order to synchronize tasks and projects during the first year of transition, until the complete abandonment of Redmine. The major roadblock was the adaptation of the OCA package (Odoo Community Association) for the Italian localization to the requirements of accounting and financial statement audits. Odoo has significantly improved Zerynth Spa’s ability to manage the warehouse and shipments for customers, it has speeded up many data entry and data checking operations between invoicing and accounting.
IIoT Connector for Manufacturing
After the first year of adjustment, Zerynth decided to implement a connector between the Zerynth Platform and Odoo: the IIoT Connector for Manufacturing. It has been published on the Odoo App store with the aim of offering a unique solution for manufacturing companies that have decided to embrace or who are on the digitalization journey with Odoo. Its development and publication contributed to the success of the company towards new customers and many Odoo partners, both Italian and from all over of the world.
By choosing Odoo, Zerynth not only significantly improved its operations but also set the stage for future growth and innovation. As they continue to expand their platform and reach new markets, the flexibility and scalability of Odoo will remain central to their success. Currently, the Zerynth solution is integrated with Odoo for several customers in the manufacturing sector. A standout feature of this solution is its ability to connect older-generation machinery to Odoo, enabling integration that would typically be impossible with an ERP. This capability allows for new automations within the Odoo production flow, driving efficiency and modernization.
