I have a product that is traceable with serial numbers. The product is used for manufacturing our main product, but is malfunctioning. I need to replace the item with a new one, thus a new serial number. How do I do this such that traceability is still intact?

With a repair order, you would be able to replace the faulty product while providing the serial Number

Once a manufacturing order is completed and a serial number is assigned, you cannot change the serial number directly. This restriction exists to maintain the integrity of the manufacturing process and ensure the traceability of products, which is critical for quality control, compliance, and warranty management.

To change a serial number in this scenario, you need to unbuild the manufacturing order and create a new one with the new serial number.

This approach is necessary because allowing direct changes to serial numbers could lead to discrepancies and errors in the production records, making it difficult to track the history and status of each product accurately.
