or in other words: can odoo 8.0 be a good email client?
how would you set that up?
is it a good idea to do that?
like probably everybody we have attachments in mails received or sent as well.

Odoo is the world's easiest all-in-one management software.
It includes hundreds of business apps:

I could setup the email service with gmail, it pushes and pull emails but I really don't think it could replace an email client.
As you say, you can setup odoo to push and pull mails from or to an emailserver (in my case pop3... or smtp@myserver.com). That's basically what en email client does, isn't it? Can you explain WHY you think odoo falls short replacing a client? maybe handling attachments?
Hello Gunnar, I wouldn't use the Odoo email feature as my primary email client because 1. there is no way to organize your emails, 2. if you try to send an email, it will be sent to "all followers AND..." some email address, 3. it was builded to handle emails as "notifications". But that's my personal advice. If you are looking for a simple client to send and receive emails, that will maybe work for you with some tweaks (like send emails only to those in the "To:" box), but if you want something where you could put emails in a folder or have alerts when the email arrives, odoo will not be enough.

seems the question is quite popular. Does anybody have an answer for it?
