Companies that deal with products that have a unit of measurement like grams, kilograms, pounds, etc. often need to measure the quality points of their products during various operations such as inputs, outputs, manufacturing, etc. In such cases, the quality point of measurement helps to verify the weights at different points of the operation. However, if you need a more automated flow that allows for real-time weight readings to reduce human error, then configuring a scale with an IoT box is the most effective option.

1. Connect the IoT BOX

a) For this step it is necessary to have a Windows computer on which you can install Odoo 17 from the following link and download the desired version

Odoo 17 download

b) Once the download is complete, make sure to select the type of Odoo IoT installation.

c) When the installation is complete, copy the token for the Odoo IoT in case you need it.

d) When you close the installer after the installation is complete, you will be redirected to a page in the browser to finish configuring the IoT box.

e) In case our IoT does not appear with the HTTPS certificate configured we have to enter the server section to configure it, to configure it we have to create the name of the IoT box and the server token we will copy from the IoT box that we are going to create in the Odoo database (the database must have an active subscription).

f) To create the IoT box in Odoo we have to have the IoT application installed, when entering the application we will select the "Connect" button.

g) Once we connect the IoT box Odoo will give us a token to connect the IoT box via wifi, we will copy that token and paste it into the server token section (item e).

h) The newly configured IoT will be displayed When the IoT box is connected in our Odoo database.

2. Configure the scale

a) In this case we use a Mettler Toledo Ariva - S scale, which is detected by the IoT box just by connecting it (this step may vary depending on the scale you have and the respective drivers you have).

b) Once the IoT box detects the scale we can go to the devices to enter the settings of the scale.

c) Inside the scale we have a section of quality points where we can add quality points that have to be previously created to be able to link them to an operation with the scale.

Here you can see an example of a quality measuring point for weight:

d) Once we have selected the quality point we are ready to make quality point measurements with a scale.
