What are "Receive Messages by Email" and "Opt-Out" and how to set them for many contacts?

Receive Messages by Email has the following possible values:

  • (empty)
  • Never
  • Incoming Emails only
  • Incoming Emails and Discussions
  • All Messages (discussions, emails, followed system notifications)

Opt-Out is a checkbox.

What do these options of a contact in the Sales & Purchases tab mean? Who receives, who sends? Is this documented somewhere?

How can I change the values globally or for many contacts without clicking on every contact thrice? psql?

Hi ,

As the question is related to openERP messaging / oechatter etc , i have think the following question is related to you, as it is about the understanding of the concept of the messaging in OE.

And it is true that for now, there is no straight forward way to set the "opt-out" for multiple contacts , but you may want to consider to use a 3rd party module call mass_editing , you can do a search in google with this phrase " mass_editing openerp v7" , it should point you to the correct one to download this module.

HTH.
