I looked up some earlier questions about connection problems and got my thunderbird connection working; but the same settings seem not to work for the Open Office connection. Being new here for a few days i don't know all to much about the program...

connection settings that work fine by thunderbird plugin..:

server: http(s)://mycompanyname.odoo.com (i tried both MPC and MPCS but both don't work)

database: mycompanyname

user: admin

pw: ******* 

what else is there that i can try????

For thunderbird it worked fine....cannot get Open office connected....

I followed the guidelines in Denis Ledoux answer in https://www.odoo.com/forum/Help-1/question/OpenERP-Online-What-are-the-parameters-for-the-report-designer-or-the-Thunderbird-plugin-4900

That did the trick for me.

My oppinion: forget the report designer and edit the rml files directly.
eg: addons/sale/report/sale_order.rml
