Instead of seeing background images, i get a gray background in the theme previews. 

I tried everything


OS: windows server 2016

Odoo v13 community

browser Chrome: latest version


- reinstall odoo

- reinstall postgress

- moved the data folder

- set permissions

- moved a database from an install where the background images DO work

- overwritten the server folder with a server folder of an install that does work

- overwritten the python folder -> that broke the odoo service though

- reinstalled


the error i get in the browser debug window is:

web.assets_common.js:1030 GET  http://myserveraddress/web/image/theme_default/static/description/theme_default_screenshot.jpg 404 (NOT FOUND)


but the icons on the bottom of the image does show.

I think there is a serious issue with de static file location on windows environments for odoo 13. 

the feedback i get from a paid theme provider is simply: we dont use windows os

Is anyone aware of this?


Edit: apparently there's "web/image" to much in the url. have absolutely no idea why its being added there + its on every vanilla install. cant believe no one pointed this out. 


the github devs says the url is invalid, not why and they don't consider the fact the url gets malrendered as an issue.


guess i'll have to move to linux after all :)

The vast majority of Odoo implementations is on Ubuntu Linux. Therefore it is much more difficult to get help for Windows implementations from the community. You should be aware of this fact when deciding for an operating system. My advise: forget about Windows, use Ubuntu.
