I would like to know if openERP 7 can be setup to support multiple independent companies managed by one master company.

In our case we are a property management company that manages about 100 condominium associations. Each one of the 500 condominium associations is a separate corporation with separate ownership, bank accounts, customers, vendors(frequent overlap), accounting ledgers and utilizes separate employees employees from the property management company.

We need to run reports that must have no data from other companies, they must be completely siloed from each other, yet we would like to have it under one ERP implementation for the purposes of simplifying and quantifying management of the operation.

We see how to setup multiple companies but its not clear that OpenERP will silo the data from the separate companies.

Can this be done, if so, how?

Hey Good Day

If I am taking you right.. You want to have sub-companies concept.

One option is to manage multiple companies, which let you have multicompany module in odoo7 and 8 both versions, Then, go in settings and enable multple companies option and sometimes in settgins users admin and then enable multiple companies checkbox.

In odoo8, you can even crate your own company too by outting res_affiliate module available at OCA repositories.

If it helped lemme know :)

The solution is to use one database for each condominium association.

The constraint will be the hardware limitation and performance. But there are some solutions for that.
