I would like to keep a registry of configuration changes of my Odoo v8 instalation. Call it a log book or a binnacle. I would like to maintain a registry of the changes made.
The most similar thing I found is the Audit Trail (https://apps.openerp.com/apps/modules/master/audittrail/) thing but I'm not sure if it works with configuration changes and if master version could work on v8.

You might try this module. Its from OCA, so the quality is guaranteed.
The audit rule will simply work on whatever model you configure. So let it be even a master data, it will be even tracked.
