I am aware of the modules for the Community editions. But I don;t find them in the Online hosted edition. Surely, there must be a way ?

There is no certified module that does that at the moment. The best you can do on the saas is to write a script that would get the latest exchange rates from an external source (website, webservice) and run it on a regular basis.

I am fairly new to OpenERP. Am I right in the assumption that a custom python script would go into Settings > Actions > Server Actions ?
I really think that OpenERP should integrate the rate update module on it's SaaS.
