Hello,

I'm just trying to create BOM's that respect a lot of product variants and lead to a correct handlig of generated MO's. AFAIK i have to create multiple BOM's for a product if the amount of a subproduct A differs or if I want to use subproduct B instead of subproduct A and so on.

No I'm a little confused about the following fields of a BOM:

1) optional select field 'Product variant' below the product select field

2) BOM Properties to switch to the correct BOM

3) the variants field in the components list

How do this fields work together?

Why can I set a product variant (1) since this will be captured in the component lines -> variant settings, also?

Is it better to use BOM properties instead of defining a lot of component lines with variant settings?  Where is the difference?

What if I once need 'subproduct A variant A' once and 'subproduct A variant B', but in the next order I need 1000 x 'subproduct A variant A' and 0 x 'subproduct A variant b'. Should I then create 1000 different BOM's for 1,2,3,4,....1000 x use of subproduct A?

Is there a documentation on how to use this fields in mrp?

Best regards,

Alex
