Data 27 July 2014 -- What is the best download place of OpenERP ?

I looked at Github and nightly.openerp.com, then confused which one to download the source code.

In Github, there is a master, v7, and v8 branch, which one is the recommended ?

In nightly.openerp.com, under 7.0 Stable, there is a exe for windows and it seems to stop update, and src.

Which one should I used in order to download OpenERP ? Consider both Windows and Ubuntu platform.

Right now we are in a waiting period for the latest stuff.  The nightly builds of v8 are not yet available but they should be "soon" according to an update given on 7/24/2014 in this thread that has since been closed:

(I have no idea why they closed this quesiton! It was a great update and what everyone here has been asking for.  But anyway.....)

If you can wait a few days then I would say it would be worth it to be able to get the new nightly builds of v8.  They usually come in Windows, RPM, and Deb packages so you can install where you want.  I don't think that the nightly for Windows v7 has stopped. The last one was 7/22/2014 but they sometimes skip a couple days.

I'm not sure why they closed that question. But I'm updating the answer here https://www.odoo.com/forum/help-1/question/answer-updated-2014-07-24-release-date-of-odoo-8-stable-version-on-github-56109#answer-56608
