In the context of Odoo, "primary" and "extension" refer to different approaches used in  view  or template inheritance:

Primary Inheritance:

1)In primary inheritance, you define a new view that replaces the entire original view.
2)The original view is referred to as the "primary" view, and your new view completely replaces it.
3)You typically use primary inheritance when you want to override the entire original view and make significant changes to it.

Extension:

1)In extension, you inherit from the original view and add or modify specific elements within it.
2)You extend the original view by adding or modifying specific fields, widgets, or other elements using XPath expressions.
3)Extension allows you to make targeted changes to the original view without completely replacing it.
4)You can add new fields, modify existing attributes, or change the layout of the original view while retaining its overall structure.

Hi,

When you set the mode as primary while inheriting it wont make changes in the existing view, but it will create a separate view inheriting the original and changes from the current view.

Inheriting normally will make changes to the original view, mode primary will act as a new view with changes.
